Welcome!
I'm Dr. Karen Wise, a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience helping people navigate life's challenges. I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychotherapy tailored to each client's unique needs. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, or a major life transition, my goal is to help you gain insight, develop effective coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change.

My Approach and Interests
In our sessions, I prioritize creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. One of the aspects of my work that brings me the greatest joy is getting to know my clients on a deep level. Building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust and mutual respect is essential to the healing process, and I strive to cultivate this connection in every session.
Therapy with me is a dynamic and collaborative process. Together, we'll explore a variety of therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-behavioral strategies for change and mindfulness practices for acceptance. I like to incorporate EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, when clinically appropriate, as a helpful approach for processing trauma and changing negative self beliefs. By integrating these approaches, we can work towards creating lasting transformation in your life. I have experience treating many common issues; such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief.
A significant part of my practice is working with the addiction recovery community. I offer services for individuals at any stage of change, from wanting to reduce harm to sustained abstinence, and all the steps in between. Therapy can be an incredibly helpful tool in recovery from alcohol, drugs, gambling, and other addictive behaviors.
I am licensed in the state of California and my license # is PSY 21876.
